Can I develop my own reports?
Sure you can. Isn't that the whole point of a Business Intelligence platform?
Can I develop my own Cognos Frameworks?
Sure you can. You get access to a remote developer station and you can start building your own frameworks. We always provide a remote desktop, even when you have a permanent data connection. This is for security reasons. We do not want workstations accessing the core systems from all over the place.
Can I develop my own ETL or my own SPSS models?
Again yes. For these functions, you also get access to a remote server or workstation.
Do I have my private environment for Cognos?
Depending on how much you are willing to spend, you can work in a "virtual private" Cognos evironment or in a "dedicated" Cognos environment.
In the first case, you pay a low monthly fee and you get your own segment (folders) in a shared Cognos 8 or Cognos 10 environment. The trial subscriptions run in such a mode. We make sure the platform remains available and gets the capacities it needs.
In the second case, you pay a higher fee but you get your own Cognos environment in which you can acquire flexible capacities (expressed in terms of "number of concurrent report executions").
In both cases, the hardware is mutualised to ensure top stability, performance and security. We operate in a SaaS model, we are not a segmented virtual server farm.
Can Numius personnel access my data?
Theoretically, yes. However, they cannot do this without being noticed. Within their employment contracts, unwarranted data access to client data is considered a major violation with immediate resignation as a potential consequence. If you have a security management process, we can include the data access logging into your corporate security processes.
What additional costs can we expect?
All costs related to hardware, software and services are included in the monthly fee. Costs that are not included in the fee are costs for any particular consulting that you should request from us, e.g. for bespoke report building. However, with our platform, you can do all of the required building and development yourself.
Am I locked-in in any way?
No. It is our objective to make this a very flexible service. You pay a monthly fee for the regular service and if you decide to leave, you just stop paying. You obviously get an export of the database as well as all Cognos report developments or Datastage ETL developments.
Do I get my own virtual server with operating system level access?
You get this for your ETL development and for your SPSS development. Cognos report processing, as well as database processing is done on a large Cognos and database distributed architecture. You get logical access to the Cognos environment and the database instance but not to the operating system.
